Today, nearly a month after I had my district interview, I got my “rotary letter” in the mail. One of my friends got his a few days ago, and another actually got a call yesterday. So I was on pins and needles until I finally got the envelope today. And I made it in! My application has been accepted and I am tentatively one of the 2008-2009 exchange students for Poland from my rotary club. I am very excited, and I’ve been calling my family all night.
I have to get my passport now, and soon too. I also have to attend all of the mandatory orientation sessions. I also want to do a little research on Poland and find out when their schools start, etc. One of my friends told me that he’s going to give me a CD for learning Polish for Christmas, so I’m hoping to get started on the language.
So all of the interviews and stressing finally paid off! I’ve been accepted. Of course, only by my club. Now my application has to be accepted by the club in Poland. So the fact that I’m going on rotary isn’t really final yet. I have two or three orientation sessions to attend first… and eight and a half long months to wait. I think I will know if I’m truly going by then, but honestly, I’m not sure. The first orientation session is in about a month, so I’ll be in touch after that.
