Passport Fair

October 16, 2007

A couple days ago, I attended what is called the “Passport Fair” for rotary. During the five hour session, we were presented with all of the countries that are on the exchange list for next year. There were five stations (each representing a continent) and we spent about 40 minutes at each. I learned facts about the countries, including religion, food, culture, and language. After the fair, I was able to list the five countries I would like to go to most. They include (in no particular order at this point): Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Germany, and India.

In about a week, my secondary application will be due. I already had to turn in a $50 application fee, and I am now working on completing the application. It includes 16 pages of information to fill out that must be done in a very specific way. My district interview is a little over a month away. I’ve started to prepare for that by reading world news everyday and listening to NPR more frequently. I was informed that letters accepting or declining you into the program will be sent out in the beginning of December. Until the district interview occurs, though, I won’t have much to write about. So… until the interview…
